Painted as an enemy and something to be avoided. This is not entirely true! Here are some easy pointers&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Quality or Quantity?:\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, verdana, segoe, sans-serif;\">Turns out the\u00a0quality of calories is more important than the\u00a0amount. Mind you, portion control is needed&#8230; but the 50 calories of an apple are NOT the same as 50\u00a0calories from a snickers. One of them feeds your body and is utilized as fuel, the other&#8230; not so much; one guess as to which is which.\u00a0Go for natural calories and nutrients,\u00a0avoid\u00a0chemicals and synthetic calories.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>2. You Might be Missing Out:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, verdana, segoe, sans-serif;\">With the stereotypical calorie &#8220;truths&#8221; we miss out on some needed high caloric foods such as avocados or nuts. These foods contain beneficial and much needed healthy fats, natural sugars, proteins, dietary fiber, vitamins and\u00a0minerals. That is way to much goodness to deprive your body of based on a misconception of the calorie.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Recommended calories for when Your hungry:<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, verdana, segoe, sans-serif;\">First recommendation is eat 5-6 small healthy meals a day to avoid starvation. Let&#8217;s be honest though, without discipline time can get away from us and we miss meals. SO! When you have the massive munchies and need something quick go for 16 oz of\u00a0water, wait a few minutes, and then follow up with something that is a balance of good fats,\u00a0protein, and carbs. Ex: Natural\u00a0Yogurt &#8211; 12 almonds &#8211; 1 small apple<\/span><br \/>\nMy favorite way to make it easy on yourself with portioning and figuring out what types of food you need is the\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #6dc6dd;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.teambeachbody.com\/showcase\/-\/bcp\/2806144533001\/112221?referringRepId=112221\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">21 Day Fix<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, verdana, segoe, sans-serif;\">4. Order of your calories:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, verdana, segoe, sans-serif;\">Believe it or not there is an\u00a0efficient order to eat food that leads to better digestion based on what it takes your body to\u00a0metabolize them. Drink 16 oz. of water and wait\u00a0a bit before your meal (drinking it during the meal actually dilutes the digestive juices slowing the process down) then proceed to: Fruit &gt;greens &gt;grains &gt;meats &gt;fats.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, verdana, segoe, sans-serif;\">5. Chew it:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, verdana, segoe, sans-serif;\">Take the time to chew&#8230; focus on it&#8217;s texture or savor the flavor. This activates all the\u00a0metabolizing functions in your body from the mental\u00a0stimulus\u00a0to the digestive juices. Eating too fast\u00a0slows the body&#8217;s ability to figure out it needs to start digesting and when it&#8217;s full which leads to way to many calories.
